How much does it cost?
HYPE is free to use. You earn Coins by answering polls and can spend them in the Shop.
Who made HYPE?
HYPE is designed and developed by a small team that wants school to feel more positive and fun.
Why did you create HYPE?
We wanted to create a place that makes us feel better about ourselves. We hope HYPE shows you that there are people who love and admire you.
When will HYPE be available?
HYPE is preparing for its first school pilot at McNair.
When will it be available on Android?
We don’t have a release date at this time.
Is HYPE private?
HYPE uses your account information to run the app, connect you with classmates, and protect your school community. Contact data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Is HYPE safe?
HYPE uses positive polls, school-contained accounts, and blocking controls to help classmates compliment each other safely.
Account
I can’t find my friends. Help.
Open Add+ to search your school, browse friends-of-friends, or invite someone from Contacts. If Contacts are missing, enable Contacts for HYPE in Settings.
How do I hide a suggestion?
Tap HIDE beside that person in Add+. To bring hidden suggestions back, open Edit Profile, then Manage Account, and tap Reset Hide List.
Why do I need a phone number and contacts?
Your phone number is used to log in. Contacts help you find friends, invite classmates, and keep polls working while your school is getting started. HYPE does not upload raw contact phone numbers, email addresses, or photos. It may securely process contact labels, birthdays, and one-way phone or email digests as described in our Privacy Policy.
What is location access used for?
HYPE uses one fresh location during signup to find an available nearby school. The location is checked immediately and is not stored or sent to analytics. HYPE keeps only the verified school access needed to finish signup.
Are real names required?
Use a name your friends recognize so they can find and pick the right person. Don’t use a fake name, create duplicate accounts, impersonate someone else, or join a school you don’t attend.
Someone is impersonating me. What should I do?
Open Get Help in HYPE and choose Something else. Tell us what happened and attach screenshots if you have them.
I had a negative experience. What should I do?
You can block the anonymous sender from the HYPE detail menu. For anything else, open Get Help and contact our team.
How do I log out?
Go to Profile, tap Edit Profile, then tap Logout under Account Settings.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile, tap Edit Profile, open Manage Account, and tap Delete Account. Your account is deactivated for 24 hours so you can keep it if you change your mind.
Schools
How do I join my school?
During signup, enable Location. HYPE verifies that you are near a supported school region before creating your school membership.
I signed up with the wrong grade, name, or gender. What do I do?
Open Profile, tap Edit Profile, and choose the information you need help changing. If you still need help, use Get Help in the app.
My school is not available. How do I add it?
Pilot V1 is available only at McNair. Use Get Help to tell us which school you want HYPE to support next.
Can I use HYPE away from school?
Yes. Once your McNair membership is verified, you can keep using HYPE away from campus.
The App
How do I sign up?
Open HYPE and follow the signup steps to verify your phone, school access, and profile.
How do I add friends?
Open Add+. You can respond to friend requests, browse friends-of-friends and classmates, search by username, or invite someone from Contacts.
What happens when I pick someone from Contacts?
The answer earns Coins and completes your poll just like any other accepted answer. If that phone already belongs to an eligible member of your school, HYPE is delivered immediately. Otherwise, it remains pending for up to 90 days and can be delivered if the phone joins and verifies the same school. HYPE never automatically invites the Contact.
Can I see who answered a poll about me?
No. HYPE shows only a broad gender signal and grade so everyone feels comfortable sharing compliments. The sender’s identity stays anonymous.
Are the messages real?
Every HYPE in your Inbox comes from a classmate choosing you in a poll. HYPE does not invent received picks.
What are Flames?
Flames are sent when someone picks you. A blue flame is from a boy, a pink flame is from a girl, and a purple flame is from someone. Your most-picked questions appear under Top Flames on Profile.
Why are my friends getting more Flames than me?
Every poll batch has a different mix of classmates. Keep answering and inviting friends—the more people at school participate, the more HYPE everyone can receive.
What are Coins?
Coins are earned by answering polls. Use them in the Shop to place your name in future polls through a Random Boost or Crush Boost.
